Microtrac: CAD to Assembly Animation
Watch an open-source tractor design come together, component by component. AI converted Open Source Ecology’s Microtrac CAD model into 742 separate Blender components, then scripted their assembly into a finished animation.

The process began with the Microtrac FreeCAD design. Its 742 solids were converted into individual Blender meshes while preserving the source geometry and assembled positions. AI then scripted the part-by-part animation, materials, lighting and camera movement. An original orchestral and electronic soundtrack builds as the machine comes together.
The result shows how existing engineering designs can become an accessible visual explanation: from a frame and loose components to a completed machine, with each stage visible along the way.
The sequence illustrates assembly; undocumented plumbing and controls are omitted. It is not a verified workshop assembly procedure.

Read the assembly sequence
- Frame and mounts form the structural backbone.
- Shafts and clamps connect the chassis.
- Idlers, drive motors and tensioning hardware move into place.
- Individual track elements assemble around the running gear.
- The power modules and mounting hardware are added.
- Loader arms, pivot supports and cross-shaft connect.
- Hydraulic lift and bucket-curl cylinders settle into position.
- The bucket and quick-attach parts complete the assembly.
The closing camera move shows the assembled tractor. The audio is instrumental music; there is no spoken dialogue.
